here's hoping the kids morning soccer is called off in honor of Pippa's wedding so I can stay home instead, drool over pictures, not get dressed and drink excessive amounts of coffee

The kids soccer practice and games weren't called off after all, but that certainly didn't stop me from drooling over pictures...

arriving with her dad, so sweet!

these hats at British weddings are the real deal. I've been to many a British wedding and everyone still rocks the party hat. I love it! Chic, fancy and fun

more hat flair

I love everything about this picture; kate (obvi), the little pager boys and flower girls, the hushing and the thick rose garland makes me swoon.

stunning! (and can we talk about my arm envy and her teeny waist?!)

my favorite!

My grandmother in-law in Wales knows I love the royal family, so I'm half expecting British gossip mag in the mail with great, oversized, glossy photos or at least a Pippa + Kate calendar ;)

I'M BACK! after a 2 year hiatus, I'm back. And I am so sorry it's been so long.

so much has obviously happened since our last post; another baby, a 10 year wedding celebration, and a move. big, grown up things. crazy!

while we've moved into a new, 19805 contemporary house in the woods, I still have two share with you so many little projects we did in our previous, gorgeous victorian.

...and now back to reality.

suburbia - week nine. NINE!

although overall it has been easy + smooth, 10 weeks is certainly a long time to live with at home. enough said.

my youngest brother is graduating college this month. we went up to see him + attend an award ceremony last thursday. after the ceremony there was a light reception. sweet! while in line for yummies everyone in front of me and behind me were raving about the sushi. "how fancy", "ooh wow, sushi!" "yum, this looks great" " i've never had sushi". i spied the white rice + dark seaweed from afar. my mouth started watering, preparing itself for a simple spicy tuna + avocado...

...yet, as i got closer i only saw green or orange in the middles. well folks, this is no sushi. it's cucumber. that's it. just cucumber. cucumber rolls and carrot. and not even juilenned carrots, just a fat chuck of giant carrot. not even any pickled ginger. i wanted to cry laugh out loud and tell these people they were not eating sushi. just vegetables. i also skipped the badly paired roasted pepper + gruyere quesadilla and opted for the coffee bar. I MISS NYC!!!!

we are just coming down off our wedding trio high. three gorgeous weddings in 3 fabulous places and everything was just perfect. we also just had our first ever extended trip away without nia. although we had moments of slight guilt and even more moments of missing her, we had a great time and did some much needed relaxing.

to add chaos to our already jam-packed chaotic circumstance, my brother who just graduated also just moved back home. last night. that's six people in a four bedroom house.

nia was temporarily taking over his room, but now that he is home, nia is back in with us. her dresser and diaper set up are in the dining room. crib in our room (did i mention our room here is 8' x 8' and barely fits our full bed + dresser??) and toys, clothes, shoes, and laundry are dispersed throughout the house.

nia usually wakes up each morning doing a little talking and transitions to crying pretty fast, telling us to come get her. however, this morning she cried for a milli-second and then realized we were a mere 18 inches away and said "hi!"

after reading this i'm sure you'll realize how not-exciting things are here beyond the recent weddings. i mean, half of this email is about faux sushi. so please let me know of all/any fun adventures, trips, food experiences, and celeb spottings ASAP and stop me from my craigslist addiction of looking for the perfect dining chairs.

love

suburbia - installment 4 (actually week 6)

clearly i fell a little behind on our weekly updates. oops!

honestly, with nia running, jumping, climbing, falling, spilling, throwing, crying, screaming, coloring, drinking (milk + water, obvi!) bathing, rocking, digging, ripping, rolling, typing, and worming we have zero alone time. these update emails are just about the only emails we get a chance to write.

today is our 6 year wedding anniversary. stuart is working today + i'm catching up on mass amounts of laundry. romance, certainly not. i did manage a sweet lunch of grilled cheese, string beans and strawberry + soy milk smoothies with nia and a leisurely 4 minute babble infused telephone conversation with stuart.  however, we got dressed up and went out last night to terrapin in rhinebeck (where we got married) to celebrate. i fell asleep on the car ride home at 10:30pm. i guess growing old together is happening NOW.

easter was fun + family filled. http://beevans.tumblr.com/  we did egg coloring good friday + sunday dinner at my aunts house, with the other 28 members of our family. this week i'm weeding out the leftover easter candy stockpiles by squishing the reese's eggs and deeming them "too messy to eat" and sending the rest off with stuart to work.

my excitement levels for a house of our own has reached a new peak, and is obviously evident to everyone around me; the easter bunny left us 'this old house' and 'kitchen makeovers' magazines in our easter baskets. my "ideas + inspiration"  folder is so jam-packed that i had to create sub folders of 'cabinets', 'floors' and 'wall ideas'. and i'm afraid to sign into one kings lane for fear that i will max out our credit card.

as mentioned in a previous update, the po'town galleria just got a new funky fresh sephora store. pretty nice having a nyc go-to make up store nearby. i left with two new make up brushes; one for blush and one for powder foundation. i decided to finally go beyond my staple liquid stick blush and whether it due to stress, country air or the fact that i kiss my baby a thousand times a day, my skin isn't as flawless as it used to be. bummer.

love + terrific weather,
L

april showers

one of my best girlfriends is getting married. us bridesmaids just threw her a bridal shower last weekend. and i must say, it was practically flawless. and because valerie is one of my best friends i decided to use some of my favorite "party ideas" for her shower.

i wanted to dessert table look to be inviting, beautiful + delicious. for the overall table look this was my inspiration...

and this was the result...

in hindsight we could have used more bud vases of roses.

for the cake i fell in love with this image ages ago and was determined to use all aspects of it as possible...

here's the bunting (my current obsession)...

and the ombre...

and this one for the trim...

pretty good, no?

and then i spotted this in a martha post a few months back and just loved it. so i switched up the colors for valerie's purple wedding color. it was such a beautiful way to decorate, bring in tons of fun + pops of color and was super fun + super easy.

*obvi it would have been nice to have the city backdrop and party on a lush rooftop.

oh-so-fascinating!

i have a thing for hair flair; hats, turbans, headpieces, hair bands, fascinators...i love it all.

obviously the royal wedding re-sparked everyones appreciation for hair flair.

really, how fabulous are these?!?!

and then while feverishly flipping through my coveted September VOGUE i spied this ever so chic photo of anita pallenberg

while at my moms this past weekend, we were flipping through her endless sea of catalogs and i spotted these gorgeous hair bands made of huge, fresh, hot pink flowers.

(photo plucked from peruvian connection catalogue)

my brain spins on dreaming up places where i can go wearing this. swoon!

so it seems hot hats are everywhere. i guess i need to bust out my turban this season, that i have yet to bring to the streets.

do you adore hair bands? rock fascinators at weddings?

how pretty

we have a lot of weddings coming up in 2011 so naturally my weekends are happily consumed by hunting for inspiration, looking through amazing sites for picture ideas for a dreamy wedding, perfect party dresses (and let's face it, wedding dresses) hair style ideas and creating endless amount of flower arrangements in my head.

isn't this photo just the best wedding day portrait ever?!?!
